I don t really know how I feel about this one, or about all the info we got about Chance It s confusing, mostly because we are used to a Chance who isn t the one here.Is not that this isn t a good story, just I don t know, I think to need to know how this series will go from here on before I made up my mind. Wow, this was different 3,75 stars One word of advice don t read this immediately after Wishink Well First because you ll want to see Eddie around and second because that story was just so good that just that it felt so different There was a lot going on Price worked with shifts in time and dimension, and had several plot lines and POVs to show us The different story lines were intricately weaved and came together beautifully towards the ending, but I can understand some readers find it confusing Especially since in the last story, the different story lines and head hopping was at its minimum Also the story took place in Greece While I appreciate the effort and like the fact that Price chose to implement current sociopolitical affairs in the book, it just didn t feel like a JCP story I came to find I actually missed the Hillbilly towns in Nowhere State Besides the difference in structure and setting I also must say I had trouble recognizing Chance in some parts He s always been somewhat cynical and jaded, but now he seemed downright bitter view spoiler Eventhough in earlier stories, I sometimes got the idea that Chance had other places he d rather be at and suspected he was nowhere near angelic I did think his task gave him some sense of satisfaction, maybe even joy Now it seemed like he was unhappy with his lot in after life, resenting it vehemently hide spoiler I hadn t picked up that vibe in earlier stories I repeat though it was a good story The romance plot was adorable, the new characters intriguing and Chance was delectable as ever This story gave usinsight on him, while still keeping him somewhat deliciously mysterious And I commend miss Price for doing it totally differently this book It just needs some time getting used to @Download Pdf ß Happily creature who now goes by the name Hunter has insinuated himself among the staff of a nearby hospitalMilo Alexakis is a member of the Hellenic Police and with all the protests and the rioting, he s ruing the crappy grades and crappier finances that kept him out of university and put him in the daily path of hurled insults, spit wads and cobblestones American Dave Shaw is ruing the fact that he never managed to learn any Greek before he embarked on the world s worst vacation, aloneCop meets tourist in a brilliant conflagration and amidst the Molotov cocktails and burning cars, Chance finds the lure of his old flame impossible to resist Very good short paranormal m m romance about a Greek cop and an American tourist who collide We also find out a bitabout Chance, although he s really no less mysterious for that Thequestions about Chance are answered, theconfused I get I think I know what s going on, but I ll be interested to really find outI liked this story for the work I had to do to pull the various threads together in the larger scheme, but I did miss out on the traditional blossoming romance, as I really liked Milo and Dave. These keep changing so much from one story to the next I really have no idea where the story is going to go next. 11 in the Petit Morts short novella series For those looking forabout Chance, here s the start of that There is some dollops of info that tension came from On to PM 12, London Eye This is the very first thing that J C Price has written that I haven t loved Chance didn t seem right His personality was so different from the other books that I was sure one of the new authors must have written it The characters were confusing The plot was confusing After the absolute wonder that book 10 was, this just didn t hold up. story to finish off the Petit Morts series, and while I m sad there won t be anyin the future, I can t think of afitting ending for this last batch of stories Immortal Coil weaves together two very different romances the human and the immortal in a way that is profoundly satisfying, entertaining and moving. The story begins with Chicago teacher Richard Hill marking student essays about the heart A former wrestling coach who was injured in a shooting, Richard has had to leave behind his old jock identity for the sake of his health there s a bullet lodged in his pericardium which could end his life at any moment Rather than allowing this to make him bitter, however, Richard has found a sort of peace in his new, calmer life His thoughts about how Coach Rick would have reacted to events show us just how much he has changed Price allows Richard s character to unfold slowly, giving us a nuanced portrait of a man who is ready to embrace life again, but who hasn t yet found the key to doing so.Richard encounters a small fairground while looking for somewhere to eat, and decides on a whim to try the hot dogs there There s something incredibly atmospheric about this neighbourhood carnival run down and off season, a tattooed and pierced girl selling tickets Sweets to the Sweet has been downgraded to a candy booth, with Chance spinning cones of candyfloss for the fairgoers It may not be chocolate, but Chance puts the same level of dedication into making perfect cotton candy as he does with his chocolates. While the setting may not have been as exotic as the other Petit Morts in this last batch, I found it absolutely spellbinding, especially when first seen through Hunter s non human perspective His voice is both playful and wonderfully compelling, and his point of view sections are probably my favourites in the whole story For example, this is how he sees the fairground and Chance s two soon to be lovers The strands of destiny were packed so close, it was as if the carnival sat, squat and eager, in the center of a great glittering web, just waiting to ensnare hapless souls in its mandibles and swaddle them tight in their various fates Take those two guys over by the scrambler Hunter could barely restrain himself from grabbing them by the hair, jamming their faces together, and singing out, Kisses Those two men Hunter spies are Richard and young Joel Weaver, a former student who remembers Richard from his Coach Rick days Joel has been paired up with the irrepressible Hunter, doing a weekend stint as a medic at the fairground for extra cash, and he encounters Rick while dealing with an injured fair goer The chemistry between the two men is instantly apparent, but it s handled with a rather slower burn than in some of the other PM stories and they manage to go a whole day before hooking up properly I love the way Richard and Joel s growing intimacy was handled Joel s initial difficulties with flirting and resentment of good looking guys after recently being dumped for one, are swept out of the way by his lingering crush on Coach Rick now the farapproachable Richard Joel s quirky charm blossoms under Richard s patient attention, and I was quickly convinced that these two were made for each other. In contrast to the rather sweet romance of Richard and Joel, Hunter and Chance reach new levels of intensity together The scenes with them together are electrifying, the air practically sparkling with all that combined tension, baffled affection, resentment and desire I was enchanted watching the culmination of Chance s slow and grudging acceptance of Hunter s love, and Price s prose reaches new heights of poetic beauty when describing their bond And suddenly, it seemed like they were the only two presences a the fair They didn t even need to look at each other for their awareness of the mortals to fall away It was as if they d each spun themselves out of chaos mere moments before, and it was only the two of them in the world, one dark and one light And with nothing to compare themselves to, even they couldn t tell which was which. There are many other delights to be found in this last Petit Morts story, such as Destiny, Kismet and Fortune a trio of fascinating characters We discoverabout what has happened to put Chance and Hunter in their respective roles, and about their history together Not all the questions are answered, but I prefer to be left wondering than have every last little thing spelled out to me.For me, though, the best part of this whole story was the explosive end to Chance and Hunter s romance They have to work together to save Chance s lovers, making a huge sacrifice I m not giving any spoilers, but their solution managed to be sexy, poignant and incredibly beautiful Their final scene was every bit as moving as the end of Wishink Well, but left me brushing away a stray tear rather than reducing me to a blubbery mess, thankfully It could be that other readers will be disappointed with the resolution, but to me it seemed perfectly right, with just a touch of bitter to cut through the sweet. This is clearly not a standalone story and I don t know how much pleasure you d derive from it if you hadn t had a chance to grow to love Chance already, but for fans of the series, I can t think of a better way this could have ended Satisfying, touching and profound, Immortal Coil is a truly memorable story This was so far my least favorite story of the series While I like the main character, Chance, the mysterious owner of Sweets to the Sweet and cupid extraordinaire I feel that this story servedas a set up for future stories and wasn t as good as a standalone In previous stories, Chance works to bring lovers together and the primary focus is on the plot of the two wayward love the rest of the story wasn t completely developed The problem was you wereinterested in Chance and Hunter than in Dave Greek Cop GC guy Also frankly there wasn t much of a connection b w them Dave s
