Well, this is one of the cutest books I have ever read Friendship is a beautiful thing, even when that friendship seems unlikely and takes a bit work to establish A true friend is there when the music is playing and the sun is shining and when the music stops and you need a spot of tea and a helping hand. This story was sweet, but the story was rather predictable and pedantic It could run on the wordy side for younger picture book readers The illustrations are beautiful, though. Picturebook I loved this book and even though the two main characters had differences and didn t have much in common, they resolved their differences when Nutmeg takes care of Barley when he s sick They found out they do havein common than they thought and become good friends. My kids and I loved this sweet book The illustrations are beautiful and the story is cute Our only complaint is that the author didn t writeabout Nutmeg the squirrel and Barley the mouse. Nutmeg is a squirrel who s very social and thinks she can charm anyone Unfortunately, her neighbor is Barley, a very reserved little mouse Nutmeg finally decides that they just don t have anything in common and leaves Barley to himself But one day, she doesn t hear the music she loves so much and discovers that Barley is very sick She nurses him back to health and learns that it is he who plays her favorite music They finally become friends.Sweet illustrations. I love this story Sweet and simple, this story brings two very different characters together and demonstrates that the best of friends do not have to share all of the same interests Both of children enjoy this book tremendously. A favorite for my squirrel storytime It s longer and doesn t work for really young groups, but it s got a sweet message of caring for one another.
