This was bad It was horrible, the plot was ripped off from Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings and possibly some other books Too many examples, but halfway through the book you can see all of the references The story was dragged for no reason, dialog was incredibly lame, for example, they were narrated instead of given a dialog form which would have beeninteresting But we are narrated on what they say God damn it It hurts to see something like that for something that had so much potenti This was bad It was horrible, the plot was ripped off from Wheel of Time, Lord of the Rings and possibly some other books Too many examples, but halfway through the book you can see all of the references The story was dragged for no reason, dialog was incredibly lame, for example, they were narrated instead of given a dialog form which would have beeninteresting But we are narrated on what they say God damn it It hurts to see something like that for something that had so much potential Though the journey from the boys POV was disappointing, the king s was interesting Here was a character that was evil as you can imagine, but the details was left for the readers to draw themselves Could have expanded on the king and made itinteresting Reading about the lame journey that reminds me of Moraine s party doesn t deserve a place Regretted But will finish the series Who knows what I might find 67 100 good writing, run of the mill story, poorly handled development of the story.Very typical fantasy story Too much time wasted on the introduction and setup and not enough time spent on the development of the protagonist s newly acquired powers The final confrontation with the bad guy was handled poorly I often wonder why people even bother to write books if all they can come up with is another run of the mill story Judging however by so much mediocre fantasy out there, writing a 67 100 good writing, run of the mill story, poorly handled development of the story.Very typical fantasy story Too much time wasted on the introduction and setup and not enough time spent on the development of the protagonist s newly acquired powers The final confrontation with the bad guy was handled poorly I often wonder why people even bother to write books if all they can come up with is another run of the mill story Judging however by so much mediocre fantasy out there, writing a truly interesting story is a lot harder than it seems I did like the style of writing but instead of 510 pages I would have expected 200 300pages devoted to the development of the main character s understanding of his abilities, politics, and a muchdetailed and interesting final confrontation with the generic evil bad guy The story ends quite abruptly as if the writer was forced to stop The setup for a follow up is clear but I m not going to read it anytime soon Fantastic read and delightfully unexpected I did not think I liked the fantasy genre but picked up this book anyway because I like the other murder mystery work of the author so much, I was craving anything else I am now working on the second in this series titled The Emerald Cavern and it is great too. This author really knows how to hook the reader with fast moving story line and really interesting characters I found myself completely transported into a land unlike any other and am glad th Fantastic read and delightfully unexpected I did not think I liked the fantasy genre but picked up this book anyway because I like the other murder mystery work of the author so much, I was craving anything else I am now working on the second in this series titled The Emerald Cavern and it is great too. This author really knows how to hook the reader with fast moving story line and really interesting characters I found myself completely transported into a land unlike any other and am glad there is a third book to follow the one I am in now This story is captivating and perfect when you are snowed in somewhere Started out with a cool premise but become unfocused and boring as it went on Also, this is obviously a man writing typical fantasy and there is a typical fantasy female character who is spunky and wenchish and of course beautiful Between that and the but you re just a girl lines that came far too frequently and the girl s typical fiery eyed response, it was super annoying But I could have lived with that if the story hadn t become boring and untight.
